Tassis Group uncorks new talent

Tassis Group welcomes Ron Almera (Sommelier and Beverage DIrector) to its hospitality team.

With an unwavering commitment to delivering exceptional dining experiences, the Tassis Group welcomes Sommelier and Beverage Director, Ron Almera to its hospitality team. Equipped with a WSET Level 4 Diploma in Wines and upwards of 20 year’s experience working with wines both in Australia and Hong Kong, Almera is expertly qualified to deliver outstanding guest experiences in all facets of beverage service. Previously serving as Senior Sommelier at Walter’s Steakhouse in Brisbane’s CBD, he not only brings a discerned understanding of old and new world wines, but also an extensive network of contacts with access to beverages of incredible value and utmost exclusivity. Almera’s prestige only continues to evolve under the ongoing mentorship of Peter Scudamore-Smith, Master of Wines.

With a seemingly unquenchable passion, Almera says he’s enthused by the possibilities of his new role with the Tassis Group. "I'm excited to use my connections with global growers and makers to source unique wine and beverage offerings specific to each venue to help complete their brand stories”. Almera continues, “I also look forward to sharing my knowledge of these wines with the Brisbane community, not just in day-to-day service but also through exclusive wine dinners and tasting events”.

Owner and renowned restaurateur, Michael Tassis, says he’s thrilled to have someone of Ron’s caliber stepping into this new position with the Group. “Ron’s onboarding is excellently timed as we start to raise the bar in standards of service and guest experiences across the Group. His connections and expertise in the industry offer a level of exclusivity that few others have, and opens opportunities to host exclusive dinners and wine tastings that add a fresh and exciting dimension to our offerings”.

Brisbane foodies can enjoy a first-taste of Almera’s expertise at Longwang, at its highly-anticipated opening in March, followed closely by an exclusive wine dinner hosted by David Powell (formally of Torbreck Vintners) at Rich & Rare, West Village in May.
