Dubbed as Powell’s most indulgent collaboration to-date, guests can expect to be personally guided through a tasting of eleven of Powell & Son’s most exclusive wines, featuring a strong contrast between vintage and modern-world harvests. Some of the most prestigious offerings include the “Steinert” and “Kraehe” Shirazes, of which the 2021 releases will make their first public debut at the event. Guests will also have the opportunity to purchase any of the wines sampled, a rare opportunity given their artisanal style of production.

Complementing Powell’s bold array of wines is an eight-course dinner curated by Rich & Rare’s Executive Chef and “Grill Master”, Kadu Imbroisi. The menu champions the most premium-grade steak and seafood, including Orciestra Kaviari and MB12+ A5 Japanese Wagyu Striploin (full menu available here) – all to be enjoyed against the intimate and sophisticated backdrop of the restaurant’s West Village setting.

An evening with David Powell is reserved for utmost wine aficionados, priced at $600 per ticket.

About David Powell

David Powell, formerly of Torbreck Vintners, has been nurturing his passion for fine wine since the early eighties, with global experience working in vineyards from the Barossa (SA), to Northern Italy and the Rhone Valley in France. The diversity of these landscapes, from their heritage to fruit growing capabilities, has influenced his current philosophy for winemaking – passionate about producing great wines that embody the rich narratives of the vineyards in which they are grown. This same philosophy underpins the Powell & Son brand, brought to fruition in 2014 in partnership with his son, Callum.

Powell & Son

Utilising traditional and minimalist winemaking techniques, Powell & Son specialises in a range of highly expressive vintage and modern-world wines sourced from various vineyard sites throughout the Barossa and Eden Valleys. Each vine is hand-worked through winter and spring, before being plucked in Autumn and vinified using old concrete ferment vats and basket pressing techniques to emphasise the freshness, vibrancy and liveliness of the fruit.

About Ron Almera

Equipped with a WSET Level 4 Diploma in Wines and upwards of 20 year’s experience working with wines both in Australia and Hong Kong, Almera is expertly qualified to deliver outstanding guest experiences in all facets of beverage service. Previously serving as Senior Sommelier at Walter’s Steakhouse in Brisbane’s CBD, he not only brings a discerned understanding of old and new world wines, but also an extensive network of contacts with access to beverages of incredible value and utmost exclusivity. Almera’s prestige only continues to evolve under the ongoing mentorship of Peter Scudamore-Smith, Master of Wines.
